Trustee/Chairperson of Public Safety Committee
Frank Obaya was appointed to the Board of Trustees in October 2023 and began serving as Chairperson of Public Safety and is currently serving his first full term as a trustee.
Career
Frank proudly served the Village of Franklin Park as a Firefighter/EMT for 27 years, dedicating his career to protecting the community and providing emergency medical services until his retirement in November 2022. Following his retirement, he continues to apply his strong work ethic, leadership skills, and hands-on experience as the owner and operator of Semia Home Improvements LLC, a home renovations and construction general contracting company specializing in quality craftsmanship and reliable service.
Community service
Frank was actively involved with the River Grove Baseball for 12 years, contributing his time, energy, and leadership to the growth and success of the program, and he served on the organization’s board for 6 of those years. In addition to his long-standing commitment to youth athletics, he was instrumental in helping to bring the flag football program to River Grove, expanding recreational opportunities for local families. When his three sons attended River Grove School, Frank remained engaged in their education by actively participating in the River Grove School PTA, demonstrating his continued dedication to community involvement and youth development.
Personal
Frank has been married to his wife, Michele, for 34 years, and together they have built a strong family foundation while raising their three sons, Frank Jr., Marco, and Gaetano. Since 1993, Frank and his family have proudly called River Grove their home, where they have established deep roots in the community and continue to be actively involved in local life.
