O'Hare Noise Commission

Commission members meet regularly with City, County and State Officials to advise the village about any recent developments with regard to O'Hare Airport.

Planning Commission / Zoning Board of Appeals

The Planning Commission / Zoning Board meet as needed to consider proposals that require special use permits, variations, or any other activities that involve land development.

Police & Fire Commission

Required by State statute, the Police and Fire Commissioners are appointed by the Village President with the consent of the Board of Trustees and are responsible for the selection of River Grove Police Officers, Fire Fighters and Paramedics.

Police Pension Board

The Police Pension Board administers a Police Pension fund as prescribed by Illinois State Statute for the benefit of its police officers and family members.

Public Safety Committee

The Public Safety Committee facilitates a direct line of communication between the public safety officials and the Village Board. This process ensures that certain needs and requests, brought forth by the public safety departments, are realized and addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

Public Works Committee

The Public Works Committee advises the President and Village Trustees about improvement projects for the upcoming fiscal year in accordance with existing ordinances and fiscal policies. This committee also meets regularly with Public Works personnel to solicit their suggestions and input for maintaining and enhancing River Grove's facilities and infrastructure in order to provide the highest level of service to the community.

Youth & Recreation Committee

This panel serves to create a comprehensive program of recreational activities that offers a wide variety of experiences to our residents. Member responsibilities include:

  • Working with local park district, township, civic and private organization representatives to identify the demand for and types of programs needed to ensure a wide variety of opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and interests.
  • To eliminate wasteful duplication of services
  • To take inventory of current facilities and evaluate the adequacy of such

Special Events Board

To plan, coordinate and advise the Village Board regarding any special events (weddings, festivals, concerts, parades, bike races, car shows, etc.) requesting and/or requiring the use of village property or right-of-ways.

Tree Board

The River Grove Tree Board was established in 1995 to oversee all aspects of our village tree population.
