Mayor Guerin and Village officials are proud to announce their latest improvement project on Lyndale Street.
Funded with a combination of Cook County Community Development Block Grant money the Village received through its 2017 application and Motor Fuel Tax funds, the project will include the installation of all new curbs and gutters, the widening of the pavement by two feet to better accommodate snow removal, new carriage walks and entrance walks, new driveway and alley aprons, patching of the pavement and a final overlay with new asphalt.
Work is scheduled to begin on or around Wednesday, August 22, 2018, with a tentative project completion date of September 30, 2018. The area under construction will include all of Lyndale Street from Leyden Avenue to 5th Avenue.
"The Village Board members and I are committed to addressing our aging infrastructure," said Mayor Guerin. "We will continue to aggressively fight to secure funding until every street and alley in our great town is restored."
As in all construction projects, residents may experience inconvenience. Village officials are hopeful that the weather will cooperate and the project will be finished on time. Lyndale Street residents are being advised that during construction, daytime parking on the street will be prohibited between 7:00am and 5:00pm to allow for the construction to be completed. In the evening, the contract requires that one side of the street be left over for parking. The Village will also temporarily ease parking restrictions as it relates to street sweeping on Leyden Avenue and Trumbull Avenue between Belden and Palmer to accommodate vehicles displaced during construction. Since parking will be at a premium, Village officials are encouraging residents to utilize their garages for parking of vehicles.
The contractor, Triggi Construction, will be providing Lyndale Street residents with two days notice in advance of working on their side of the street. It is anticipated that work will begin with curb and gutter work on the south side of the street.
